HOUSTON, TX – Lone Star Legal Aid (LSLA) is proud to participate in East Texas Giving Day on April 29, 2025, an 18-hour online fundraising event that unites the region in support of local nonprofits. Organized by East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF), this annual initiative provides an opportunity for individuals to make a lasting impact on their community by donating to organizations that serve East Texas.
As the largest provider of civil legal aid in Texas and the third largest in the nation, LSLA provides free legal representation, advocacy, and community education to Texans living in poverty. LSLA serves all 32 counties in East Texas within the ETCF service area, ensuring equal access to justice for those in need.
“For every legal aid lawyer, nearly 17,000 low-income Texans struggle to access the legal help they desperately need,” said Paul Furrh, Chief Executive Officer at LSLA. “Your support during East Texas Giving Day will help us bridge this gap and provide critical legal services to domestic violence survivors, veterans, families facing wrongful evictions, and seniors in need of estate planning.”
In 2024 alone, LSLA handled over 25,111 cases, benefitting more than 61,289 individuals across East Texas. Funds raised through East Texas Giving Day will allow LSLA to:
“When my son was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer and denied coverage for the specialist he desperately needed, I felt helpless. LSLA fought for him, and thanks to their efforts, he got approval for 12 vital visits—giving him a chance at the care he needed.”
“Born in East Texas, I married and moved for my husband’s military service, but love turned into control and abuse. Even when I sought medical help, he was trusted with my care. Back in Texas, LSLA secured my divorce, giving me the freedom to rebuild. I served 30 years as military police, and now, I stand strong, remarried, and forever grateful.”
Join us on April 29, 2025, for East Texas Giving Day and make a difference in the lives of Texans in need. Your donation ensures that vulnerable individuals and families receive free legal help to protect their rights, safety, and stability.
