Lone Star Legal Aid Attorney Participated In Houston Bar Association’s AIDS Outreach – Adopt-a-Family Project
Conroe, TX – Susan Soto, a staff attorney in our Conroe Branch Office, participated in the Houston Bar Association’s 25th Annual AIDS Outreach Holiday Adopt-a-Family Project last month. 85 law firms, legal departments and individual donors provided holiday gifts for 128 families in need. This includes a record 484 individuals (194 adults and 290 children), making it the HBA’s biggest AIDS Outreach project to date!
Soto’s sister, Lesley Ochlis of Acton, MA, joined the effort, and the two provided gifts for a mother and her three sons who live near Hobby Airport in South Houston, making the impact a multi-state collaboration.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to work in legal aid and help Texans have access to justice,” Soto said. “During the holidays, it is even more special to make the season bright for children and their families. My sister and I were pleased to participate in the bar association’s project in a year that was so difficult for so many in the Houston area.”

This committee is responsible for providing holiday gifts for families affected by HIV or AIDS by soliciting and matching firms and corporations with families. The committee also visits and assists the residents of Bering Omega House one Saturday in the spring.
