Houston, TX – Local natural gas company Williams of the Galleria Area has sponsored one of Lone Star Legal Aid’s clients with all the furnishings for a new apartment.
December is the National Season of Giving, and Williams contacted us to find out if they could sponsor one of our clients. We connected them with Blanca Correa, a crime survivor and mother of three, starting a new life with her children. Zelda Hinojosa-Howell, a staff attorney in our Crime Victim Unit (CVU), zealously represents Blanca to enforce her legal rights and protect her children.
With a new sense of empowerment and holistic legal support from our CVU, Blanca was able to move her family out of a shelter and into an apartment. New beginnings can be challenging for survivors, who often flee unsafe living situations with little else but the clothing on their backs. Thanks to Williams, Blanca and her children can celebrate Christmas with cozy living room furniture, a dining room set, beds for all family members, and more.
“We are always grateful when individuals, companies, or organizations reach out and want to help our clients. We are here to uplift the discouraged and help those most in need,” said Paul E. Furrh, Jr., Chief Executive Officer.
“A small act of good will and kindness to even one family at a time can make a difference in the lives of others,” said Martha Janousek, Manager of Williams’ Commercial Technology Team. Her team made a difference to this family and provided the housing stability they needed at a crucial time. LSLA and Blanca are grateful for Williams and its Commercial Technology Team for their support.
Williams is an energy infrastructure company that handles approximately 30 percent of the nation’s natural gas used to heat homes, cook meals and generate electricity.
