Lone Star Legal Aid Launches Giving Season Campaign for Texas Community Partner Organizations

What is Giving Season?

Giving Season is the time between November 1st and December 31st, in which nonprofit organizations campaign for donations, champion volunteer work, and inspire acts of kindness. Falling on November 30th this year, Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Unlike its gift-buying counterparts, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is to encourage charitable donations. Sometimes known as #GivingTuesday, this holiday is the pinnacle of Giving Season, and in 2020, was responsible for raising nearly $2.4 billion in the United States alone. As nonprofits enact real-world changes in our communities, donations big and small make an impact.

Here are 5 ways you can give on Giving Tuesday:

  • Give your voice: sign a petition or speak up for an issue or cause.
  • Give your time or talent: volunteer or donate your skills.
  • Give money: donate or start a fundraiser for a cause that matters to you.
  • Give inspiration: when we share our generosity, we inspire others to do the same.
  • Give goods: organize a supply drive or donate items you don’t need anymore.

How do donations impact Lone Star Legal Aid?

All year, we – and our partners – rally around issues such as consumer rights, landlord-tenant relations, foreclosures, public benefits, food insecurity, environmental justice, disaster recovery, tax relief for low-income taxpayers, fair housing, domestic violence, justice for survivors of crime, military veteran benefits, mental health, and much more. We work tirelessly to assist the most marginalized and underserved people in the communities we serve, such as those with disabilities, the aging, the homeless, and those with limited English language skills. Lone Star Legal Aid’s mission is to expand access to free civil legal services for low-income Texans, and today we are proud to announce our own Giving Season campaign. From now until December 31st, we are encouraging donations to all of our community partner organizations across Texas.

As the third largest provider of free civil legal services in the United States, we deeply understand the importance of holistically addressing the needs of individuals. Adequate and convenient access to assistance, services, and resources that may improve the lives of millions living below the federal poverty level should always be within reach. Whether you reside within our Texas Piney Woods, Gulf Coast, Urban Metropolis, Hill Country, or Southwest Arkansas service area, Lone Star Legal Aid cares about your livelihood. With that said, our campaign for donations to our community partner organizations has the potential to serve populations beyond our service area with a multitude of resources beyond our expertise. As we have over 500 community partners, we have created comprehensive lists dividing each organization by issue and location, to help you make a more informed donation.
