In commemoration of National Pro Bono Week (October 25th – 29th), Lone Star Legal Aid honors W. Albert Weatherly as Attorney of the Year, Nacogdoches County.

Lone Star Legal Aid Pro Bono awards recognize attorneys, law firms and community partners who donate their time and legal expertise to ensure that all East Texas residents have equal access to the courts. The virtual event was conducted via Zoom on October 26th at 12 p.m., with recognitions by several distinguished speakers, including Paul E. Furrh, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of Lone Star Legal Aid, keynote speaker Honorable J. Brett Busby, Texas Supreme Court, and several East Texas judges, including the Honorable Clyde Herrington, County Court at Law No. 2, Angelina County. The live Awards Presentation will be November 18, 2021 at noon during the Nacogdoches County Bar Association meeting at the Fredonia Hotel.

W. Albert Weatherly is honored and recognized for his longstanding and exemplary commitment to providing pro bono services to low-income residents of Nacogdoches County. Throughout his practice, including during the pandemic, Mr. Weatherly has not hesitated to provide essential estate planning assistance to those in need, and at a time when his firm’s expert services were needed most.

About W. Albert Weatherly

He currently serves as Secretary in the Fredonia Rotary Club, having previously served as President.

Albert is a steward of pro bono service and encourages other practitioners in Nacogdoches to also give back to the community. “Although many of our own clients would be perceived as wealthy, we believe it is important that the less wealthy also have access to the legal system with feasible legal matters. Working with Lone Star Legal Aid and assisting with their overflow of requests for help is an excellent way for the private legal practitioner to contribute in this regard.”

Lone Star Legal Aid salutes Albert Weatherly for his unwavering commitment to pro bono service and proudly recognizes him as Attorney of the Year in Nacogdoches County.
