LONE STAR LEGAL AID’S BRYAN OFFICE ATTORNEY OF THE YEAR
In commemoration of National Pro Bono Week (October 25th – 29th), Lone Star Legal Aid honors Mark R. Maltsberger as Attorney of the Year, Brazos County.
Lone Star Legal Aid Pro Bono awards recognize attorneys, law firms and community partners who donate their time and legal expertise to ensure that all East Texas residents have equal access to the courts. Mr. Maltsberger will be formally recognized on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brazos County Courthouse, in a recognition event hosted by the Honorable Kyle Hawthorne, 85th District Court, with Award Certificates from Lone Star Legal and the Honorable J. Brett Busby, Justice, Supreme Court of Texas. A reception will follow the ceremony sponsored by Lone Star Legal Aid and the Brazos County Bar Association.
Mark Maltsberger has handled pro bono cases through Lone Star Legal Aid since 2015, after attending a CLE and committing to accepting 2 pro bono referrals. Since that time, Mark has far exceeded that initial commitment, and since 2019 alone, and particularly during the pandemic, he has assisted more than half a dozen clients with legal issues.
While his daily practice consists of representing those accused of criminal offenses and providing probate and estate-planning services, Mark has always accepted pro bono cases in any area where his assistance is needed most.
