In commemoration of National Pro Bono Week (October 25th – 29th), Lone Star Legal Aid honors the following with 2021 Bryan Branch Office Pro Bono Awards:
- Mark R. Maltsberger – Attorney of the Year, Brazos County;
- Donald Delgado – Outstanding Commitment to Pro Bono Service;
- Paula E. Silva – Outstanding New Volunteer;
- Baker and Associates – Outstanding Commitment to Pro Bono Service in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Texas; and
- Don & Ellie Knauss Veteran Resource & Support Center, Division of Student Affairs, Texas A&M University – Community Partner.
Lone Star Legal Aid Pro Bono awards recognize attorneys, law firms and community partners who donate their time and legal expertise to ensure that all East Texas residents have equal access to the courts. The honorees will be formally recognized on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brazos County Courthouse, in a recognition event hosted by the Honorable Kyle Hawthorne, 85th District Court, with Award Certificates from Lone Star Legal and the Honorable J. Brett Busby, Justice, Supreme Court of Texas. A reception will follow the ceremony sponsored by Lone Star Legal Aid and the Brazos County Bar Association.
The week of October 25th – 29th has been designated the “National Pro Bono Celebration” by the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Pubic Service. The goal is to showcase the remarkable difference that pro bono lawyers make to our nation, our system of justice, our communities and, most of all, the clients they serve.
