Join Lone Star Legal Aid (LSLA) on Facebook for a live discussion tomorrow with the Houston Police Department Victim Services Unit. LSLA’s Crime Victim Unit Staff Attorney Courtney Porter joins HPD Victim Services Lieutenant Pleasant for a live chat discussing the purpose of HPD Victim Services, the process and expectations of getting help, how the Coronavirus has impacted their work, as well as a conversation about what National Night Out means to HPD and how the community can get involved this year.
The Victim Services Unit is dedicated to positively affecting the quality of life for the citizens of Houston and provides assistance to crime victims and their families. They assist the victim with applying for crime victim benefits and services as well as works closely with social services and legal agencies within the City of Houston and Harris County.
We are excited and grateful to have HPD join us for a collaborative online discussion on victim-centered content. It is important for community partners, especially within the same region, to come together to provide the necessary information our community needs to be safe. Working together provides an outlet for crime victims to access legal information as well as access to various resources they need to recover following victimization.
