September is National Preparedness Month

Lone Star Legal Aid recognizes September as National Preparedness Month. The campaign promotes family and community disaster and emergency planning now and throughout the year. This year’s theme is “Prepared, Not scared.”

Homeowners, families, and communities can use this opportunity to find ways or help others understand more about preparing for disasters and reducing risks to health and the environment.

This year, Lone Star Legal Aid will provide information on preparing your home, checking your flood risk, safeguarding important documents, what to do if you are disabled, and how to handle shotty contractors.

LSLA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit law firm focused on advocacy on behalf of low-income and underserved populations. We serve the millions of people at 125% of federal poverty guidelines that reside in 72 counties in the eastern and Gulf Coast regions of Texas, and 4 counties of southwest Arkansas. We focus our resources on maintaining, enhancing, and protecting income and economic stability; preserving housing; improving outcomes for children; establishing and sustaining family safety and stability, health and well‐being; and assisting populations with special vulnerabilities, like those who have disabilities, or who are elderly, homeless, or have limited English language skills.
