Houston, TX – Tuesday, August 6, 2019, is National Night Out! NNO is an annual community-building campaign that enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement. There are many events going on nationwide to support the cause and you can find Lone Star Legal Aid participating in the event that will be hosted at the University of Houston Downtown (UHD) at One Main Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
Lieutenant Varela, who works for UHD police and leader of National Night Out 2019, believes in service to our community. “National Night Out exists to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. What better way to bring neighbors together than by having a big party filled with free food, music, and games,” Lieutenant Varela said. “We understand that we are not just a university, but a neighbor to the greater Houston area which we owe for their continued support throughout the many years.”
Lone Star Legal Aid will be promoting its mission focus and discussing its resources on maintaining, enhancing, and protecting income and economic stability; preserving housing; improving outcomes for children; establishing and sustaining family safety and stability, health and well‐being; and assisting populations with special vulnerabilities, like those who have disabilities, or who are elderly, homeless, or have limited English language skills.
Save the date and make your way to National Night Out 2019 in high spirits because you are in for an enjoyable time with our respected police officers and members of the Houston community.
