Since 1981, America has celebrated National Crime Victims’ Week every April. During this week, we aim to educate our citizens on victimization and its effects on individuals and their loved ones. Additionally, we strive to promote policies and programs that will aid victims of crime.
This year’s NCVRW theme is “Honoring Our Past. Creating Hope for the Future” which honors the progress of the survivors, victims, and allies that came before us. Moving forward, NCRW and its participants hope to achieve further inclusivity in their victim services. The goal is to better ensure that crime victims feel that they have equal access to services and support through the betterment of our professionals, our organizations, and our communities.
The Office for Victims of Crime provides resources such as statistics, artwork, tutorials, etc. to encourage the public to garner more interest in and eventually implement more public awareness programs for NCVRW.
