Air Alliance Houston’s 2nd Annual State of the Air Gala

Houston, TX – Lone Star Legal Aid’s environmental justice team attended Air Alliance Houston’s 2nd Annual State of the Air Gala on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the historical Buffalo Soldiers National Museum.

Air Alliance Houston believes everyone has a right to breathe clean air. Through applied research, education, and advocacy, they work to deliver clean air for a healthier future in Houston. Executive Director, Dr. Bakeyah Nelson, informed attendees about AAH’s current projects aimed at advancing clean air and environmental justice in Texas.

This year’s keynote speaker was the new Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo. Judge Hidalgo spoke about the Houston region’s air quality concerns and initiatives without devaluing the city’s industry. She apprized attendees about the steps the county is taking to improve the air and protect community health.
