HHS Accepting Client Statement as ID for D-SNAP Applications

Topic

Texas may have lost important documents like birth certificates, Social Security cards, and even driver’s licenses after the floods from Hurricane Harvey. The Department of Health and Human Services has announced that they will take a client statement rather than the normal identifying documentation required when applying for D-SNAP (disaster snap benefits.)

“We have Texas families who lost everything,” said Texas HHS Executive Commissioner Charles Smith. “This puts a card in their hands so they can buy the food they need. Nothing is more important than feeding and taking care of our families.”
