Community Support Hub

Welcome to our Community Support Hub, where you can discover a wealth of support beyond our civil legal services. This page connects you to essential resources, from free WiFi locations and nearby food pantries to government assistance offices, homeless shelters, social care services, domestic violence hotlines, free menstrual hygiene products, crime victim resources, and more. We’ve curated this diverse range of community services to ease your burdens.

Basic Needs

  • Free Wifi Hotspots: Enter your zip code to find a list of locations where you can use wifi for free, including their hours of operation, and wifi usernames and passwords. This tool was created by Texas Legal Services Center, Texas Law Help, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, and Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
  • Food Pantries Near You: Search for food pantries by zip code. All entries include detailed information like hours of operation, languages spoken, and the types of services offered (i.e. food and clothing).

Government Assistance

  • Social Security Administration (SSA) Offices: While we help eligible clients apply for social security and medicare benefits, you may need to visit a SSA office for other reasons like updating personal information, replacing social security cards, or requesting a benefit verification letter. Use SSA’s field office locator to locate an office by zip code or use one of their online services. After searching for an office in your zip code, click “Other agencies” to view a list of local support services surrounding welfare, housing, meal assistance, and more.
  • Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) Offices
    • Step 1: Search by zip code. It will reveal the county name for that zip code.
    • Step 2: Type the county name into the field below. It will reveal a list of offices, including the following types: Area Agency on Aging (AAA), Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority (LIDDA), Local Mental Health Authority (LMHA).
  • 2-1-1 Texas: 2-1-1 has long been the trusted free phone number for help in accessing local community services, but there is also an online version.
