Lone Star Legal Aid Celebrates TAJF’s Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week from November 7 – 13

Of the more than 18 million veterans and active-duty service members in America, Texas has the nation’s second-largest veteran population. For the civil legal issues that may arise for veterans, legal aid organizations make themselves available year-round. In fact, more than 8,000 Texas veterans receive free legal assistance each year from legal aid organizations.

The week of November 7 – 13 marks Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week, which is coordinated by Texas Access to Justice Foundation (TAJF) in honor of Veterans Day. During this time, free legal services are offered and promoted to Texas veterans for a variety of civil legal issues surrounding benefits, medical care, disability, family law, and more.

Lone Star Legal Aid’s Military and Veterans Unit will be hosting both in-person and virtual outreach events for clients and legal professionals alike.

Henry’s Home Horse & Human Sanctuary Veterans Event. Location: 14638 Perry Road, Conroe, Texas 77302. Veterans Clinic and Informational Session at Henry’s Home that is a retreat for Veterans using equine therapy.

Veterans Week  Telephone Counsel & Advice Clinic. LegalLine is offered as a community service by Lone Star Legal Aid. Volunteer attorneys will conduct one-on-one legal advice interviews over the telephone to Veterans who submit an application and are eligible for LSLA’s services.

Veterans Week  Telephone Counsel & Advice Clinic. LegalLine is offered as a community service by Lone Star Legal Aid. This event will serve Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Red River, and Titus counties.

Smith County Veterans Telephone Counsel & Advice Clinic. This telephone clinic is offered during the Covid pandemic as a service to the Veteran community by LSLA. Volunteer attorneys will conduct one-on-one legal advice consultations over the telephone with those who submit an application and are eligible for LSLA’s services. Community Partners: Smith County Bar Association & Smith County Bar Foundation.
