Lone Star Legal Aid Honors Shelby County Attorney Lynda K Russell for Pro Bono Work

INDIVIDUAL ATTORNEY RECEIVES ACCOLADES FOR OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT TO PRO BONO SERVICE

In commemoration of National Pro Bono Week (October 25th – 29th), Lone Star Legal Aid honors Lynda K. Russell for Outstanding Commitment to Pro Bono Service.

Lone Star Legal Aid Pro Bono awards recognize attorneys, law firms and community partners who donate their time and legal expertise to ensure that all East Texas residents have equal access to the courts. Ms. Russell will be formally recognized during two recognition ceremonies, both virtual and live. The virtual event was conducted via Zoom on October 26th at 12 p.m., with recognitions by several distinguished speakers, including Paul E. Furrh, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of Lone Star Legal Aid, keynote speaker Honorable J. Brett Busby, Texas Supreme Court, and several East Texas judges, including the Honorable Clyde Herrington, County Court at Law No. 2, Angelina County. The live Awards Presentation will be November 18, 2021 at noon during the Nacogdoches County Bar Association meeting at the Fredonia Hotel.

Lynda Russell is honored and recognized for her longstanding commitment to pro bono service. Her unwavering dedication to assisting low-income residents of East Texas approaches 10 years. Lynda has represented dozens of clients referred to her by LSLA relating to Family Law matters in Shelby, Nacogdoches, San Augustine, and Sabine counties.

About Lynda K. Russell
Lynda Russell opened her practice in Shelby County in 2012. The former Shelby County District Attorney has over 27 years of experience helping East Texans with their legal issues. Her dedication and commitment to assisting those less fortunate is evidenced by the fact that she continuously has at least one pro bono case open at any given time, and has sustained that practice for years and throughout the pandemic. When Lynda encounters an individual in legal need who comes to her office for assistance but cannot afford to pay her, she usually makes a referral to Lone Star Legal Aid and asks that the individual be referred back to her for representation.

Lone Star Legal Aid salutes Lynda K. Russell for her deep personal commitment to pro bono service and her legacy of helping protect some of East Texas’ most vulnerable residents.
