Having high quality, affordable health coverage is beneficial for children and their families. With children heading back to school in August, coverage will help parents rest easy knowing their children can get the routine preventive care that keeps them healthy and the medical help they need if they get sick or injured.
Healthy children are better prepared to succeed in school and in life. Texas Medicaid & the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) offer parents and care givers peace of mind knowing their children can get the care they need, when they need it.
These programs have been helpful in reducing the percentage of uninsured children with more than 45 million children covered. While this progress is very encouraging, there are still a large number of children who do not have medical coverage. About 50% of uninsured children reside in six states in the United States, with Texas taking the lead. We are here to help get kids in Texas covered by helping parents through the enrollment process.
Lone Star Legal Aid’s (LSLA) Connecting Texas Kids to Coverage Unit (CTKC) legally assists low-income families when applying their kids for medical coverage. We can help your child apply for Texas Medicaid as well as Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
LSLA has a decades-long history of public benefits outreach and advocacy, including enrolling children in Medicaid and CHIP, and helping them renew and keep their coverage. The Connecting Texas Kids to Coverage Unit’s principal purpose is to help children have healthy futures by identifying and enrolling children and their parents in Medicaid and CHIP, and helping them maintain coverage through renewal and retention efforts.
Enroll your children today with LSLA’s services before your children head back to school.
