Lone Star Legal Aid Awarded Greater Houston COVID-19 Recovery Fund Grant

Houston, TX – Lone Star Legal Aid announces a new grant provided by the Greater Houston COVID-19 Recovery Fund. This grant is made possible as a result of the United Way of Greater Houston and the Greater Houston Community Foundation, standing together to help support those impacted by COVID-19 and those who may be impacted in the future due to unstable economic conditions. Lone Star Legal Aid is grateful to be a recipient of these grant funds, which will be used for homelessness prevention and housing stability and will include critically needed legal assistance in eviction and foreclosure defense for Houston area families impacted by COVID-19.

The sudden loss of jobs, wages, and childcare have created an unprecedented economic crisis – especially for the most vulnerable in our community that were already struggling before the pandemic struck. Improving housing stability will help to alleviate the effects of the ongoing public health crisis.

The need for legal services is much greater than we can address alone. Lone Star Legal Aid is pleased to be a partner in this work and is available to assist Texans in need of legal help. Applications for free legal help are accepted via telephone at 1-800-733-8394 or online at www.lonestarlegal.org
