Crime Victims’ Rights Week – Survivor Projects and Resources at Lone Star Legal Aid

Crime Victims’ Rights Week is an annual week-long campaign in April that celebrates the accomplishments of the victim’ rights movement. According to the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), “National Crime Victims’ Rights Week has challenged the nation to confront and remove barriers to achieving justice for all victims of crime.”

This year’s theme is rights, access, equity, for all victims, which helps crime survivors find justice by enforcing their rights, expanding access to services, and ensuring equity and inclusion for all.

Lone Star Legal Aid (LSLA) has two units that work with crime survivors; the Crime Victims Unit and the Individual Safety Unit which specifically works with survivors of sexual assault. Not only does LSLA represent crime survivors in court, but also works on campaigns and virtual outreach that provide education and resources for our client community.

Here are some of the advocacy projects LSLA has worked on in 2022 to better understand crime survivors and provide them with legal aid and non-legal resources.
