Friendswood & Houston, TX – Lone Star Legal Aid is preparing to offer free legal services to students affected by the closure of Education Corporation of America. Education Corporation of America (ECA) campuses which include Brightwood College, Brightwood Career Institute, Ecotech Institute, Golf Academy of America and Virginia College announced that operations would be discontinued in December of 2018.

With 75 campuses nationwide, including 12 in Texas, their over 20,000 enrolled students may be wondering if they can get the tuition they paid back, get their student loans forgiven, or how they can transfer their credits to another institution.

“We are gearing up to assist the students affected by ECA’s closure,” said Sapna Aiyer, LSLA’s Managing Attorney for its Consumer and Housing Unit. “They’ll be able to call us for help to understand their legal rights and handling the often daunting documentation requirements in acquiring any and all benefits they’re entitled to.”
