Local Brewery to Host Fundraiser for Lone Star Legal Aid

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SEPTEMBER 18, 2017

Houston, Texas – On September 29th, Under the Radar Brewery will be hosting a fundraiser benefiting Lone Star Legal Aid. LSLA’s Houston headquarters suffered an explosion and fire on the Monday following the first landfall of Hurricane Harvey, leaving attorneys and staff without a place to return to work. The fundraiser will include a silent auction with (soon to be announced) baskets, live music, and food from Deutscher Fleischwagen. 20% of all beer sales will be donated to LSLA.

LSLA staff members have continued to work although displaced and have been manning tables at FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers, Shelters, and “Pop-up” resource clinics in the affected areas they service. They have been providing information about how survivors of the storm can apply for FEMA, D-SNAP benefits, Disaster Unemployment Assistance, and other recovery programs. LSLA attorneys are the first in the state to file applications for Temporary Restraining Orders to allow tenants time to remove precious belongings from their damaged rentals. LSLA attorneys will also be handling FEMA appeals, title work for homeowners, and other extended legal representation.
